Now that you know about the prices some companies have when offering the roaming service to people, you might want to meet other alternatives. And, as a matter of fact, there actually are some options that can help you to save some extra money if needed.
But, which one are these services? let’s take a look at them and see how each one of them works.
International eSIMs are one of the newest technologies that are taking over communication services around the world. People can easily ask for one and they will have different benefits when using it.
But, take into consideration that eSIMs work mostly on new-generation mobiles, but that’s not something completely bad for us. In case you want to try out one eSIM, we highly recommend the ones offered by Holafly. Why? You might be asking, here are some things to clarify our choice:
Another alternative that travelers can take into consideration for them to use is SIM cards for Canada. These are used by almost everyone in the world, and now they can be used for traveling purposes if needed.
The best options for tourists are the online stores for ease of purchase and activation. You will have to wait for the delivery of the SIM card to use it. There are other travelers who prefer to use local operators at the destination, but taking this alternative can make the purchase a difficult task. In either case, you enjoy
For quite some time, people used Pocket WiFi as their preferred device when traveling. Nowadays, things have changed a little bit, but they are still part of the list of alternatives people can use when traveling.
These devices are easy to rent, and people can rent one for as many days as they need, which happens to be great. The only downside here is the price, renting one has a price of 50$ to 349.99$, and people must beware of not losing them or they will have to pay an extra fee for it.
We all know that there are some countries around the world offering free WiFi to their visitors and people who live there. Canada is part of that list, which is great for travelers but remember one thing: free WiFi is not always the best choice for you.
Still, you can go ahead and give it a try, and in case you want to do it so, try using Avast Wi-Fi, WiFi Map, or WinMan to help you find WiFi.
Before continuing, we need to talk about what each operator offer to its customers. And, that’s exactly what we will do now.
In case you are a T-Mobile user, we have some good news for you. They offer three different plans to their clients, the Magenta, Magenta Plus, and Essentials.
Each one is different from the other, being the Essentials plan the more basic of them. On the other hand, the Magenta and Magenta Plus give access to 4G mobile data to its users, while the Essentials only works in 3G.
Also some unlimited data plans allow you to use your service in Canada and Mexico. You should check with your provider before purchasing an additional package.
Verizon offers three ways to use its roaming service. If you are a client of an Ultra plan, you can use the roaming service for free. If you are a client of a different plan, you have to pay 10$ per day to use it.
The other option offered by the company is the International Monthly Pass for the most demanding customers and it costs 100$ per month.
The last service on our list is AT&T. Just like the other companies, they offer two different ways of accessing their roaming service.
The first one, the International Pass costs 10$ per day and allows users to use text messages, phone calls, and mobile data. The other service offered by the company is the International Calling Plan which costs 15$ per month but only gives access to phone calls.
As with the previous two carriers, AT&T offers roaming service with no additional fees on some of its unlimited data plans. If you have one of these you will not have to pay for additional packages or subscriptions.
Do you live in the UK? No worries, we will also talk about the mobile operators that offer a roaming service for travelers there too.
O2 has some amazing rates for people who want to use their service outside of the European Zone, which is great.
If you decide to travel with them to Canada, you will have to pay £6 per day (approximately $7.32) while using their Canada roaming service.
The last service we’ll talk about is Vodafone. They also offer the chance to its clients to use the Canada roaming service, but for a higher price compared to O2.
The company charges people £6.85 per day (approximately $8.36) while they are using the service. It is a bit higher compared to other services, but it is still accessible for people.
Now, we need to answer a big question here. How can I activate the roaming service on my mobile? Let’s see how to do it with the U.S mobile operators.
Thankfully, for T-Mobile clients, the activation process is quite simple to follow. They will only need to make a phone call to #RON# or #ROF# and their service will be either activated or deactivated.
Verizon also offers an easy way to activate the roaming service, but it has some more steps than T-Mobile. People will need to go to their settings, find the “Mobile Data” option, and then activate or deactivate the “Roaming” option.
Just like it happened with Verizon, people will need to activate the AT&T service in the same way. First, go for your settings, find the “Mobile Data” option, and then press on the “Roaming” button to start using it.
Leaving the U.S mobile operators aside, it’s time to talk about the UK operators that are left to talk about. So, let’s see how we can activate the service with them.
The activation process of O2 is quite simple. People will only need to send a text message and the activation will be completed. So, if you want to do it, go ahead and send O2TRAVEL to 23336 and the roaming will be activated.
Last but not least, we have Vodafone on our list. Vodafone offers its clients two ways to activate the roaming service. The first one is by accessing their website and activating it there. The other one is by making a phone call to 199 and asking for a customer service member to help you activate it.
