These providers are among the most popular options in 2024. It’s important to compare plans before you travel, so you can always choose the best option for you. Whether you’re looking for extensive global coverage, unlimited data, or budget-friendly options, these providers should have all your needs covered.
How to find out if my carrier supports eSIM
With the rise in eSIMs, the number of providers and their coverage changes all the time. Even still, this is a fairly new technology, which means not all devices and providers allow you to use an eSIM. So, before you travel, it’s worth checking directly whether your carrier supports eSIM.
You can find out if your carrier supports eSIM in a few different ways. Start by checking their website or contacting their customer service to inquire about eSIM compatibility. Most carriers will have this information on their website.
You can also check your phone’s settings. On an iPhone, you can find this information by looking up General > About > Carrier Lock. Or, you can look for the SIM Card Manager. Meanwhile, for Android devices, you can find your device’s IMEI information in the settings.
If your phone is locked to a specific carrier, you cannot use an eSIM. But, this doesn’t mean that you can’t unlock your phone. You’ll need to contact your provider to do this.
As a general rule of thumb, newer devices will support eSIM technology. Even if your carrier didn’t used to have it, they might have updated their services, so it’s always worth double-checking even if you think you know the answer.
Buying and activating eSIM
As this technology continues to evolve, there are more eSIM carriers than ever before. It’s easier than ever for users to switch between networks, travel, and surf the web wherever they are.
The trick is to find the one that works for you by researching the coverage, data plans, price, and terms and conditions. Once you’ve decided, you can head to the carrier’s site and purchase the plan of your choice.
And with major phone manufacturers also expanding their eSIM support, activating an eSIM is becoming more user-friendly and accessible. Generally, the iPhone eSIM carriers and Android eSIM carriers are the same–you can use them whatever mobile device you’re on. The exact process will vary depending on your device and carrier. Generally, you’ll need to scan a QR code provided by your carrier or through the carrier’s app. From there, the process depends on whether you’re trying to activate an eSIM on Android or activate an eSIM on iPhone.
