Three-Roaming

People know that there are many different cellular operators out there that they can rely on if they want to use a roaming service while traveling. We know that companies such as Vodafone, O2, and even Google offers this service, and so does Three. That’s why we will be talking today about the Three roaming service.

For some people might, not everything is always so obvious, so a little guidance might be helpful for them. Also, we will mention other alternatives that people can find on the market that will help them to stay connected, no matter where they go to.

How does Three roaming work?

Something that can make people feel confused is whether a service is different from the other or not. Truth be told, all the roaming services work in a pretty similar way. People can use them with their domestic data, text messages, and phone calls minutes plan, or can pay to get these services while traveling.

People who are customers of Three will have the chance to unlock the service in different ways. If they go to determined European countries, they will have the chance to use their service for a lower price!

In case that you want to travel to a different country that is not located on the European continent, you will still have the chance to use the Three roaming service. No need to worry about that, but you will have to pay a bit more for it.

Yet, it is worth mentioning that people will have their domestic plan available in the different countries that they will travel to by simply paying for the “daily rent” of the roaming service.

Three roaming rates

When it comes to rates, that’s something that people actually worry about. People will always want to save some money so, they can spend it on their journey, and that’s something that Three keeps in mind.

That’s why they offer two different types of rates depending on where their customers are traveling to, as we mentioned before. People who travel inside the European continent will have to pay £2 per day, which is pretty low compared to other services out there.

Now, if someone decides to travel to a different country that is not part of the European continent, things change. The price that people will have to pay is £5 per day, which is a bit higher than the European rate, but is still accessible for most people, especially as customers will have access to their domestic plan.

Three mobile data rates

People who are customers of Three will find that information about the cellular data rates that the company charges to its customers when traveling through the world is among the most important.

Here we will repeat what we said before because that’s basically what matters. Depending on where you go, you will have to pay £2 or £5 per day to unlock your domestic data allowance. So, if you have a plan with 5 GB of cellular data available, that’s what you will be able to spend when traveling.

Three local and international phone calls rates

Local and international phone calls work in the same way as cellular data. People will have access to these services for a really low price, and that’s something that people love about the Three roaming service.

People will only have to pay £2 or £5 depending on where they will travel to, and they will unlock their phone calls minutes when using the roaming service. So, as we said before if you have 100 mins available for phone calls, that’s what you can use when traveling.

Three text messages rates

The last thing that we will talk about here is text messages. If you paid attention to what we said before, the process here is basically the same. People will have the chance to use their domestic text messages included in their plan when traveling, which is great!

The price? Still the same, depending on where you go to, travelers will have to pay £2 or £5, and they will be able to use their included text messages for as long as they are using the Three roaming service.

Countries in which people can use the Three roaming

The list of countries in which Three is available is somehow small, compared to other companies UK based cellular providers. By now, they only offer their service in 71 different countries, and most of them are part of the European continent, which means that the rest of the world is left out.

Here’s the list of countries in which people can use the Three roaming service:

Åland Islands, Australia, Austria, Azores, Balearic Islands, Belgium, Brazil,  Bulgaria,  Canary Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland. Isle of Man, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Marie-Galante, Martinique, Mayotte, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republic of Ireland, Reunion, Romania, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, Vatican City, Vietnam.

Alternatives for the Three roaming service

As you might be thinking at this point, there should be other alternatives that also offer some sort of roaming service or international cellular connectivity to say the least. Maybe you don’t feel like the price that you are paying for it is worth it, or perhaps the country that you are going to is not on the list that we just talked about.

Either way, let’s talk about other alternatives that could be somehow useful for you.

International SIM Card

SIM cards have been around for quite some time now, and they have shown to be pretty useful in different situations.

Nowadays, people can use them for traveling purposes thanks to the international SIM cards that can be found on the market. And, in case that you want to use one, we highly recommend using the Holafly SIM card.

Internatinal eSIM Card

Leaving the traditional SIM card aside, it’s time to talk about its younger brother: the eSIM card.

This digital card has demonstrated to be the future of cellular communication, and people can now use it to travel wherever they want to. Sounds remarkable, and the service will surely keep improving in the upcoming years. In case that you want to try it out, go for the Holafly eSIM card.

Free WiFi

Free WiFi can help you out in an emergency, and can even be a useful option when you are at a hotel, or in a restaurant, but other than that, it might not be the best alternative for a stable and reliable connection.

You might want to use it, but we highly recommend using it as a back-up for a SIM or eSIM card.

Pocket WiFi

If you feel like you will only need cellular data when traveling, we have great news for you. Thanks to a Pocket WiFi device, this is an option for you!

But remember, in case that you feel like you will need phone calls or text messages while traveling, this is not the option for you to choose. Or, if you feel like you can replace them with a cellular data-powered app, then go for it.

How to activate the Three roaming?

Three knows that their clients want to keep things simple when using a service like this one. If you would like to activate it, you simply need to do it through your device’s settings.

To be more exact, you have to go to “Mobile Data” and then press on the “Roaming” button to activate or deactivate it.

Opinions about the Three Roaming

  1. “Been with three for many years now and will continue to be. Any issues I have had have been resolved in a reasonable amount of time and customer service have always been very helpful.”
  2. “I’ve been with Three for a number of years and switched between different deals from contract to PAYG and vice versa with no issue. Customer service always responded to my queries in a timely manner.”
  3. “Tried all providers but 3 are clearly miles ahead of others when it comes to Customer Service (try virgin mobile to see how bad things can be).”
  4. “Left three network after 6 years, it was an excellent network and now it is completely opposite, worst signal ever with zero chances of improvement, can’t even run an IG story without buffering forget the YT videos.”
  5. “Really bad service. Crafty put you in a contract with out proper notifying. Will be leaving them.”
  6. “They are absolutely useless. Can’t wait to escape out of the contract in April. Maybe worth paying a £1 or £2 more for a company that can actually do what they’re paid for !!”
