In case that you live in the UK, you might have heard about the EE cellular operator. This is one of the most famous operators, and today we want you to have more insight on what they offer. But, we will elaborate on a specific service that they offer. We are talking about the EE roaming service, so let’s clear up any doubts or questions that travelers might have according to this service.
It might surprise people what they can find with EE, but people might not know everything that they offer, so, it’s time to talk about how the EE roaming works, as well as the EE roaming rates, and a lot of other information that will be useful for residents and travelers.
Table of Contents
All roaming services work similarly. An EE roaming service is activated before or while traveling, but there are some differences when it comes to the requirements necessary to activate the service.
EE roaming service works in a particular way. It works differently depending on where travelers are located. For example, people who are inside the EU will still be able to use their plans as they regularly do, which is great.
But, in case that someone’s travel to, for example, Peru, then they will have to pay more for the service. Also, some benefits are not included in these destinations, which is a must-know for people in case that they need to prepare their budget for their trip.
Other than that, the service works just the same as many other providers available around the world. It just needs a simple activation, and it will be ready to be used in a matter of seconds! Easy-peasy!
As we said before, not all the EE roaming rates are the same. That’s something that people can’t forget, or they might end up with a headache.
Depending on where you are going, you will have different rates. In case that you are traveling inside the EU zone, you will also have other benefits that will reduce the amount of money that you will spend. Also, overall add-ons are quite lower than other destinations.
But, are these rates as high as other providers? Well, that’s the big question that many people tend to ask. It’s time for us to clear up all the information related to the different EE roaming services and rates.
Let’s get one thing straight. People have two different rates on the cellular data price depending on two things: where they travel to, and the plan they have.
People can pay different plans if they will travel inside the EU zone, and the prices go from £13 to £28 depending on the amount of data that they get from the provider.
If they are outside the EU zone (And this includes Turkey), users will have to pay for a Travel Data Pass. The price of this data pass changes depending on the destination, for Canada and USA the price is £5.02 per day, for other countries such as China, Australia, and others, the price is £6.27 with 500MBs, and for other 45 different destinations, the price is also £6.27 per day but with less cellular data included.
The phone calls rates are also different depending on where people go to. In case that you travel inside the EU, you will get access to your domestic plan to make phone calls. There won’t be an issue if you call someone inside the EU zone, but if a phone call is made outside the EU zone, the price per minute is £1.25.
For the rest of the destinations, the price varies from £1.25 to £1.88 depending on where you’re at. For example, if you go to the USA, the price is £1.25, but if you go to Japan, the price is £1.88 per minute.
In case that you need to send text messages, the same things apply. If you are inside the EU zone, the price you will have to pay is £0.16 per message, which is pretty low.
On the other hand, if you send a text message outside the EU zone, the rate increases to £0.52 per message sent. Keep an eye on these rates.
EE is currently available in a huge number of countries. We can tell that if a country is inside the EU zone, the EE roaming service will be available there, so there’s no need to worry about staying connected.
But, we can also find that the service is available outside the EU zone in countries such as Japan, China, Russia, Turkey, Peru, Mexico. However, let’s give a more detailed list of the countries in which EE is available at.
USA, Canada.
Australia, China, India, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, UAE.
Malaysia, Moldova, Montenegro, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Georgia, Ghana, Hong Kong, Indonesia. Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Macedonia.
Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Canary Islands, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Islands, Romania, San Marino, Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Vatican City
In case that you think that the EE roaming service is not what you need, there are other alternatives too.
So, in case that you need a second choice, here’s what you need to know about these alternatives.
International SIM cards are used almost everywhere around the world. There’s no doubt about that. But, nowadays, people can also use them while traveling.
People can buy a SIM card once they reach their destination, or before they travel. Either way, we have a recommendation for travelers out there. If you need an international SIM card, try the Holafly SIM card, you might end up surprised!
Just like it happens with the SIM cards, we have the eSIMs. The only difference between them is that these are completely digital, but they might be even better than a normal SIM card.
They offer more benefits, they are completely digital, and they can be installed within seconds. Once again, we recommend people use the Holafly eSIM card due to how good it is compared to others.
Free WiFi connections can be a suitable alternative for people, but only if they will stay in the same place during their entire journey. If the answer to that is no, then you might get something else to take with you on your journey.
But, you can still use it for as long as you need it. As long as you are inside the coverage area, then the WiFi will perfectly work for you.
In case that you need to have a permanent internet connection while traveling, then go for the Pocket WiFi devices because that is precisely what they are designed for.
People can easily rent one of these devices through different companies, and the overall price might be even better than paying for constant roaming service.
There are different ways to activate the EE roaming service. It will mostly depend on what service you want to use, so let’s see.
